Last year, I decided to start foundation-free days, where I do not wear any tinted moisturizer, bb cream, or makeup foundation. I’ve found that I’m ok with this on weekends or work from home days, given the proper routine. The key is doing this and feeling comfortable is mastering two good products: undereye concealer and primer. There are other products used, but these two are the mvps.
Part I: Eyes
After trying out many different under concealers, I’ve landed on two: YSL Touche Eclat Brightning Pen in 1.5 for light coverage and Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Concealer in 1N.
The YSL Pen is used for light coverage and easy application with fingers in a rush. I’d like to get the new YSL Touche Eclat Concealer in 1.5 for more coverage.
I apply Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fushion Concealer in 1N with a Beauty Blender and set it with Laura Mercier Secret Brightning Powder for Under Eyes. It’s great for more coverage when I have time at home to apply makeup.
I finish off the eyes very simply with an eyelash curler (I have both Shu Uemura and Tom Surrat – Shu wins it) and one product of very light, barely there, neutral color. My true and true choices are RMS Eye Polish in Myth and/or Makeup Forever Aqua XL Eyeliner in S50.
Part II: Face
I discovered by accident, thanks to Becca, that a luminous primer makes your skin glow to a point you can feel comfortable with your skin without foundation.
Becca Backlight Filter Primer was the first and best one I used. Since it’s a little expensive, I decided to consider other options, like Nars Radiance Primer and Mac Strobe Cream in pink light (used by my 47 year old esthetician who looks 30). Currently, I’m using sample of Erborian Glow Creme and will switch to Erborian Pink Perfect Creme afterwards.
When my skin is flushed, I’ll use Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Camo Drop on my nose and chin to minimize redness. It’s a great product for color correcting; I’m considering buying Dr Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Treatment, which is a better value than the camo drops in either size.
I’ll finish off with Glossier Cloud Paint on cheeks and lips, and I’m ready to face the day!
